VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ind. -- Road Patrol Sergeant Casey Davis with the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office was given the Life Saving Award during a luncheon on Thursday.

On May 12, 2017, Sergeant Davis was off-duty, participating in a hockey tournament in Kalamazoo, when he saved the life of a fellow officer.

After the game, Davis' teammate Bill Kelly, of the Grand Rapids Police Department, collapsed in the locker room and was not breathing.

Sergeant Davis called for an AED and began chest compressions.

The AED was activated three times and Bill was revived before the paramedics arrived.

The sheriff's office says thanks to his swift actions and perseverance, the incident ended happily.
