U.S. 31 lane restrictions for construction happening April 6

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Beginning on or after April 6, the northbound and southbound passing lanes on U.S. 31 between the Indiana Toll Road and the Michigan state line will be restricted. This is the first phase of a project to rebuild the highway and will focus on making median crossovers.

There will be 12 foot driving lanes available, but no wide loads will be allowed.

This restriction will last approximately two weeks, and after the crossovers are completed the southbound lanes will be converted to two-way traffic while construction starts on the northbound lanes.

The contract was awarded to Rieth Riley and is expected to be finished by November 2020.
