Woman arrested for OWI after crash, husband accused of OWI after driving to check on wife

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – A woman was arrested after allegedly crashing her vehicle while intoxicated. When her husband showed up to check on her, he was also arrested on OWI charges, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:51 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call concerning a rollover crash near the intersection of U.S. 6 and Lilac Road.

Deputies investigated the scene and determined that alcohol was a contributing factor in the one-vehicle crash, reports said.  

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 37-year-old Shantelle Burress of Granger, was arrested for the charge of operating while intoxicated endangering a person.

During the investigation, Burress’s husband came to check on his wife.

Deputies determined that 31-year-old James Burress of Granger was also intoxicated.

He was arrested on the charge of operating while intoxicated endangering a person.
