Thousands are without power after storms sweep through Michiana

UPDATE:  Roughly 3,100 Indiana and Michigan Power customers remain without power Monday morning.  According to the company's online outage map, power is estimated to be restored for many of those customers by  4 p.m. Monday.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. –Thousands are without power after storms hit Michiana Saturday night.

According to Indiana and Michigan (I&M) Power, over 11,000 people are without power in South Bend.

I&M are assessing the condition. Crews have been out since 8 last night.

The biggest impact is around Lincolnway West and near the St. Joseph Public Library.

I&M says there are also reports of trees down in some areas and are working as quickly as possible to restore power, but they do not have an estimated time for when power will return.
