Fire in downtown South Bend causes power outages


SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Firefighters are battling a fire at a building on the corner of E. LaSalle Avenue and Sycamore Street in downtown South Bend.

The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

East Colfax and LaSalle Avenue are blocked off to traffic between Martin Luther King Jr Drive and Niles Avenue.

The building houses the Maennerchor Club.

No injuries have been reported.

Approximately 2,500 people were without power because of the fire.

Power has since been restored to the area.
