South Bend woman killed in crash in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- A 39-year-old woman from South Bend was killed in a crash on the 31-bypass in Berrien County Sunday afternoon, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers say the 2004 Kia was traveling northbound near the 17 mile marker when the vehicle went off the left side of the roadway.

The driver lost control, overcorrected and went off the right side of the roadway and overturned several times.

The vehicle then crashed into a tree, ejecting the driver.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
