Six-month-old dies following crash on M-60

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. - A six-month-old boy has died following a two-vehicle crash on M-60 Tuesday morning, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office.

At 6:58 a.m., deputies responded to M-60, near Angevine Road, for the crash.

According to the investigation, a 30-year-old woman was driving westbound on M-60 and was stopped while waiting for traffic to clear to turn southbound onto Angevine Road.

As the vehicle was waiting, a second vehicle that was also traveling westbound did not stop or slow down and eventually rear-ended the stopped vehicle, reports said.

Law enforcement found the driver of the second vehicle, identified as 24-year-old Jimenez Lopez, approximately 150 yards from his crashed vehicle with minor injuries. He told police he had been drinking and was trying to evade police by crawling from the crash scene, according to reports.

Lopez was identified as being in the United States illegally and did not have a valid driver's license. He was taken to the hospital and is now in custody.

The driver of the first vehicle was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

A passenger in her vehicle, identified as six-month-old Alden Adams, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

This crash is under investigation.
