LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office says a graveyard where infants are buried is littered with garbage.

It's unclear who has been dumping the trash but officials say Community Work Program (CWP) inmates discovered 21 tires, household items, portions of a hot tub and other miscellaneous trash scattered across an infant burial section of Patton Cemetery.

Anyone with information is urged to call the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office at 219-326-7700.

Officials are reminding residents to properly dispose of trash. Items can be recycled through the La Porte County Recycling program. Those interested in helping to beautify and clean up La Porte County can contact the Solid Waste District of La Porte County at 219-326-0014 or email [email protected] for events scheduled in April and May.
