Sewer rehabilitation project underway in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The City of Mishawaka will be embarking a new project where existing sewers lines will be strengthened and reinforced in order to prevent future pollution.

This construction method will not require any digging.

A soft piece of medal will be applied to the sewer pipe, then it will be inflated, steamed and cured, creating strong and durable new pieces of pipe.

Crews will assess the areas where construction is set to take place before they begin their work.

Officials warn that you may smell a resin-like odor inside your home or a business near the construction areas, and they say you can hide the odor by filling any floor drains and/or traps with a bucket of water.

Questions regarding this work can be directed to Sean Bergman of Inland Waters Pollution Control at 1-574-400-6142.

The City has also provided this interactive map to see the areas where construction will take place.
