Police searching for man accused of robbing wheelchair bound 63-year-old

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The South Bend Police Department is searching for a suspect in connection with the robbery of a 63-year-old wheelchair bound man that happened on May 13.

According to police, around 10 p.m. on Monday, a 63-year-old man, who is paralyzed from the waist down, was at his home in the 4900 block of Scenic when someone knocked on his door saying they had food for him.

When the man answered the door, a suspect pointed a gun at him and took the jewelry he was wearing.

The suspect also took the victim’s fanny pack, which contained his identification card and other belongings.

Police say the suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and black shoes.
