Police investigating reports of dog attack in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Police are investigating a report of two dogs attacking a man in Mishawaka, the Mishawaka Police Department announced.

At 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, a 51-year-old man was delivering newspapers when he reported being attacked by the dogs in the area of Linden Avenue and Home Street.

A neighbor came to help and allegedly shot one of the dogs to defend the man, reports said.

The dog that was shot died and the other dog ran off.

Police arrived on scene in response to a report of shots fired.

When they arrived, the other dog returned and began approaching officers aggressively, according to reports.

Officers tased the dog and it ran off. The dog was later caught and is being held by the St. Joseph County Humane Society.

The man was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
