Pedestrian dies in LaGrange County crash

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. - One person has died following a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Thursday morning, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department reported.

At around 9:39 a.m., a vehicle was traveling northwest in the 2700 block of S 050 W when it rounded a curve in the road and allegedly struck 82-year-old John Lehman, whom the driver did not see, as Lehman was walking in the grass alongside the road, deputies reported.

Lehman suffered head trauma and possibly internal trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, reports said.

The driver of the vehicle told investigators he had been up working for approximately 18 hours prior to the crash.

The location of the sun could have played a part in the crash, investigators said.

Results from blood tests show the driver did not have anything drug or alcohol related in his system at the time of the crash, reports said.
