One person killed in collision with semi

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- One person was killed in a two vehicle crash involving a semi on Wednesday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Around 9 a.m., deputies responded to Old M205 and Autumn Drive in Mason Township for a crash involving a vehicle and semi.

Deputies said the driver of the vehicle turned in front of a semi heading eastbound on Old M205.

The passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Alexander Villalobos, died as a result of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for injuries.

The driver of the semi was not injured.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.

Porter Township Fire Department, SEPSA Ambulance Service, Edwardsburg Ambulance Service, and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
