One firefighter injured in Mishawaka apartment fire

MISHAWAKA, Ind.—One firefighter was injured while putting out an apartment fire on Wednesday night, according to the Mishawaka Fire Department.

The fire department said in a post on Twitter that firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Penn Ave. on Tuesday night, around 11:56 p.m. and found heavy smoke coming from an upstairs apartment.

Crews spent ten minutes getting the fire under control.

Four occupants of the apartment were displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross.

The fire department said that one firefighter sustained unknown injuries and was treated.
