While Notre Dame football hit the road for a Top-10 matchup againt Miami, both Notre Dame men's and women's hoops began their seasons.
The men topped DePaul on the road, while the women notched a big win over Mount St. Mary's. The Irish earned a 121-65 victory to open the season, the third highest scoring output in program history.
All five starters scored in double-digits for Notre Dame, led by junior guard Arike Ogunbowale with 21 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Transfer Jessica Shepard notched a double-double in her first game with the Irish, tallying 18 points and 11 rebounds.
With a steal and score at the end of the third quarter, Ogunbowale passed the 1,000-point mark for her career. She became the 37th player in program history to reach the feat. One of those was Kayla McBride, the former Irish star who was inducted to the Ring of Honor before the game.
Notre Dame has now won 23 consecutive season-openers. The team returns to the floor on Tuesday, on the road against Western Kentucky. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky.
