Notre Dame will host Tennessee State in 2023

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Notre Dame’s home opener in 2023 against Tennessee State will mark the first time the Irish have played against a Historically Black College and University in program history.

The announcement was made Tuesday that the matchup will be played on September 2, 2023 at Notre Dame Stadium in a nationally televised game.

“We’re excited to bring a pair of great academic institutions that are steeped in tradition together in 2023. I’m thrilled we’re able to bring the Tigers and the Irish together for a weekend that will feature programs with over 20 combined national titles, the Aristocrat of Bands and the Band of the Fighting Irish,” said Jack Swarbrick, University Vice President and Director of Athletics at Notre Dame.

Notre Dame will begin its 2023 season in Dublin, Ireland on August 26, 2023 where they will play Navy at Aviva Stadium.
