ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The University of Notre Dame is hosting its first ever competitive soccer match at Notre Dame Stadium on July 19.
Liverpool Football Club and Borussia Dortmund will face off as part of preseason friendly match.
“We have so many soccer youth clubs in this community and these are small, young, children who are looking up to these men as idols of giving them obviously the competitive nature of a sport they want to learn more about,” said Micki Kidder, Vice President of University Enterprises and Events for Notre Dame.
Notre Dame is the first stop of three for Liverpool’s U.S. tour. The other two stops are Fenway Park and Yankee Stadium.
The game is July 19 at 8 p.m. ET. Tickets will go on sale Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
“There’s a party atmosphere. There’s going to be the tailgating outside but in here it’s going to rockin’ and I can’t wait. I think the biggest thing will be the atmosphere and the people to witness this and really understand the passion of premiere league and elite soccer,” said former Liverpool player, Phil Babb.
