Monroe County van-truck crash kills 2, injures 8 others

FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A van and a truck have collided in southeastern Michigan, killing two persons and injuring eight others.

Michigan State Police say the crash Friday afternoon in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township left a 60-year-old man in the van dead at the scene, and a 66-year-old woman later died at a hospital.

Except for the driver of the truck, all of those injured were riding in the van, which was carrying seven people with developmental disabilities and two other people.

Police say the van was attempting to cross a road when the truck struck it, causing the van to overturn.
