Milk Bank expands services

Ind. – The Milk Bank, in Indiana, plans to go beyond the donation of just mothers’ breast milk by starting lactation groups and bereavement programs.

The Milk Bank’s Director says if a mom is out there, having issues with breastfeeding, they can call them and talk with one of the bank’s certified consultants.

The Milk Bank is also reaching out to women who have lost a baby and want to donate through their bereavement program.

The Milk Bank’s “Donor Mother” Coordinator says the program will be a way to work through the grief and still have a connection to their baby.

The bank also purchased new equipment that allows the bank to stop processing the milk by hand.

During the first week of August the Milk Bank will hold events throughout the Hoosier state for World Breastfeeding Month.
