KALAMAZOO, Mich.— The Michigan State Firemen’s Association sent out a warning on April 6 after a fake email circulated the state, according to the organization.

According to the group, an email was sent out on April 5 in Michigan that appeared to be from the President of the Michigan State Firemen’s Association, Michael McLeieer.

The email requested that the recipient purchase gift cards for preventative items for those affected by COVID-19.

According to the organization, the fake email originated from Denmark.

The Michigan State Firemen’s Association is not soliciting any money for COVID-19 or any other program. It is asking that recipients not respond to the email and not to purchase gift cards for it.

Anyone who has received the email can contact the MFSA.
