A Michigan man has been arrested on open murder and child abuse charges related to the death of 2-year-old Savannah Gardner. He was denied bond in court Friday.
Gardner died in October 2016.
Lance Reeves has been charged with one count of open murder, 2 counts of child abuse in the second degree and one count of child abuse in the third degree.
Gardner was the daughter of Reeves' girlfriend at the time.
Reeves was in court on Friday for his arraignment. He pleaded not guilty.
His attorney said Reeves is a veteran who suffers from PTSD.
Reeves is accused of shaking Gardner on multiple occasions and breaking her back, according to court records.
Charges against Reeves were authorized on December 21, 2018. He was arrested on January 3 at a residence on Rush Lake by the Michigan State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team.
He is scheduled to be in court again on January 17th.
