SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Advocates and pro-life supporters participated in the annual March for Life rally in South Bend on Friday.
The rally traveled from East Washington Street to the Federal Courthouse in downtown South Bend as protesters voiced their opposition to abortion.
The rally comes as the Supreme Court is about to hear arguments on the biggest abortion case since Roe vs. Wade, which legalized abortion in 1973.
“When I was young I would come to the March for Life and I would always be inspired by the energy and the joy that is in the room,” Melanie Garcia said, Outreach Manager for Right to Life Michiana.
“Each human life is a gift,” Ruth Stroik said, who attended the March. “Life is short. Each life is precious. And so much can be accomplished in each child. We should value each child.”
Pro Choice South Bend released a statement Friday in response to the March for Life Movement:
“We believe that all people should have access to reproductive healthcare, including comprehensive, fact-based sexual education, contraception, pre- and post-natal care, and yes, abortion. The decision whether or not to continue a pregnancy is between a patient and their doctor, and does not require input from the state legislature and religious doctrines.”
