Makers Trail Passport encourages visits to local businesses in Southwest Michigan

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - The Southwestern Michigan Tourist Council launched the 2022/2023 Makers Trail Passport feature on Tuesday, encouraging residents and visitors to check out local businesses for a chance to win prizes.

The new incentive is featured on the Visit Southwest Michigan app and allows users to collect "stamps" each time they visit a participating Berrien County winery, brewery, cidery, or distillery.

The more stamps collected, the more prizes earned. Prizes include gift cards, merchandise, and a stay in a participating hotel.

In years past, stamps were collected on a physical passport. Now, visitors can choose to earn prizes using their phones.

The Visit Southwest Michigan app is free to download from the App Store or Google Play.

The app includes a map of participating Makers Trail establishments and automatically tallies stamps earned.

Printed versions of the Makers Trail Passport are available to download or can be picked up at the Southwest Michigan Travel Information Center in Benton Harbor.

The incentive lasts until May 31, 2023.
