ISP investigating death of inmate at St. Joseph County Jail

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the St. Joseph County Jail.
According to police, 33-year-old Joseph Valentine, of South Bend, was found unresponsive in his cell around 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
Valentine experienced an "emergency medical episode," according to the St. Joseph County Police Department.
Jail staff and medical staff immediately began life-saving efforts but Valentine was pronounced dead at the jail around 1:30 p.m., police said.
Valentine was alone in the cell, reports said.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday in Kalamazoo.
