NORTH JUDSON, Ind. – The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is adding another locomotive to its fleet thanks to a donation from Chesapeake & Indiana Railroad.

Locomotive no. 818 will soon be added to the Museum’s lineup of historic equipment.

The locomotive has been used in freight service for more than 60 years and will continue to haul freight until it is ready to be delivered to North Judson.

Once at the Museum, Hoosier Valley Railroad plans to keep the locomotive in service by pulling its excursion trains.

“We’re very excited to accept this locomotive,” said Museum president Todd Flanigan. “This is a big donation, and it illustrates the renewed spirit of cooperation we have with the Chesapeake & Indiana. We are so happy to be partnering with them to preserve this piece of railroad history.”
