Home explosion injures one in Cass County

PORTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Officials were dispatched to the 67000 block of Valley Road around 8:55 a.m. on Sunday to reports of a structure fire, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say that the structure fire led to an explosion within the residence, and the homeowner, a 53-year-old man from White Pigeon, was injured.

Nearby citizens took care of the injured man until EMS arrived on the scene.

The man was later transported by MedFlight to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for his injuries.

Foul play is not suspected, according to the sheriff's office.
