ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Forecast
Thursday, December 30, 2021

Cloudy and slightly foggy weather sticks around this evening and tonight. Temperatures will be trapped in the middle 30s just above freezing. New Year's Eve looks cloudy and gloomy, but mild as warmer air pushes in. Highs will reach the upper 40s. Temperatures will most likely be close to 40 degrees at the stroke of midnight.

We're about 48 hours away from a winter system helping us ring in the new year in Michiana. Rain Saturday morning will changeover to snow from NW to SE throughout New Year's Day. We'll all be dealing with snow Saturday evening and night, so this will be the toughest travel time (most likely just after the ND football game ends). Right now, 1-3" of snow is likely south of US-30, with 3-6" of snow north of that dividing line. At this time, while a brief period of freezing rain is possible, amounts will NOT be significant or concerning. Yay!

Snow wraps up Sunday morning, bringing the coldest weather in 11 months to Michiana. Highs Sunday will only be in the middle 20s, but wind chills will most likely only make into the teens. Overnight lows will drop into the single digits.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Patchy fog possible. Low 33.

Tomorrow (NYE): Patchy AM Fog. Mostly cloudy and mild. High 48.

Saturday (NYD): Rain/snow in the morning, changing over to all snow throughout the day. Morning high of 40, temps decreasing throughout the day.

Sunday: A few snow showers possible in the morning. Cold and breezy. High 25.
