Gov. Whitmer announces restaurants may reopen Feb. 1

During her press conference Wednesday, Governor Gretchen Whitmer provided an update on the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. She announced the ban on indoor dining will be extended for two weeks, but restaurants may be able to reopen on February 1.

She announced the US Department of Health and Human Services will be releasing additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

As of Saturday, indoor group exercise and non-contact sports can resume.

The state will also plan on allowing restaurants to reopen on February 1, but additional details will not be available until next week.

In addition, colleges and universities can begin in person classes as of January 18.
