Goshen man convicted of wire fraud by US District Court

GOSHEN, Ind. -- 32-year-old Junaid Gulzar, of Goshen, was found guilty on three counts of wire fraud during a three-day jury trial, according to the United States Attorney's Office, Northern District of Indiana.

Between January of 2021 and July of 2021, it was alleged that Gulzar obtained money under false pretenses and defrauded investors by use of wire communications in interstate commerce.

Gulzar allegedly offered investment opportunities in gas stations located in Goshen and Plymouth, under the guise of a high return rate and monthly payments.

According to officials, Gulzar did not use the money as promised, and instead personally benefited by at least $210,000.

No payments were officially made to investors in the Goshen gas station, and the Plymouth gas station was never purchased, according to the Attorney's Office.

Officials say that some of the money wired to Gulzar was instead used as personal funds at a casino.

His sentencing date has been scheduled for December 14, 2022.
