Severe Thunderstorms Possible Friday

Scattered thunderstorms are likely again Friday afternoon, the most likely time now through 6 p.m., although we could see a stray shower or storm anytime Friday.

While there is an isolated chance for a strong or severe storm this afternoon, the bigger severe threat is Friday overnight (10 p.m. through early Saturday morning) as a cold front passes through Michiana. The biggest impact of today's and tonight’s storms will be potentially damaging wind gusts, but periods of heavy rain and large hail are also possible.

Friday is hot and humid, with temperatures in the upper 80s. After the cold front, it will feel more comfortable with temperatures in the mid 70s both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is a windy day, with gusts 25+ miles per hour. The red flag will be flying at Lake Michigan Saturday—high waves mean dangerous swim conditions and you should stay out of the water. There are a few showers early Saturday morning, then the rest of the weekend looks dry with mostly sunny skies.

Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe storms. High 88.

Tonight: Scattered thunderstorms, possibly severe. Low 68.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Breezy. High 76.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. High 76.
