Free self defense, rape prevention class available to the public

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The public is invited to attend a free self defense class taught at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rape Aggression Defense Class or R.A.D is a free event which offers self defense techniques taught by a certified trainor in a 12-hour course offered over four nights of classes.

Eventgoers are asked to attend all four classes held on Mar.11,13,18 and 20 at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office training room located at 26861 C.R. 26 in Elkhart, Indiana.

Attendees are encouraged to have completed the basic R.A.D class before attending the advanced course.

To attend, participants should be physically able to do intense ground defense techniques such as learning to fall and the ablility to receive and give kicks and strikes to the body.

Det. Norma Alber, a certifified trainer with the Rape Aggression Defense program said, “Whatever your age or skill level, we’ll teach you something to prepare yourself physically and psychologically.People need this class if they can’t answer whether they are prepared to defend themselves from an attacker.
