Driver killed in collision with tree off US 35

Photo courtesy La Porte County Sheriff\'s Office LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver was killed when his vehicle struck a large tree off US 35 Thursday afternoon, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to the 2000 block of US 35 at 3:09 p.m.
Investigators say the green Mercedes was traveling north on US35 when it left the roadway and struck a large tree.
The driver was removed from the vehicle and medics provided medical attention to the driver, 41-year-old Joseph Freese.
Freese was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
