CASS COUNTY, Mich. – The Dowagiac Police Department is investigating a suspicious house fire that took place in the 400 block of Thickstun Street Friday night.
At 11:53 p.m., the Dowagiac Fire Department was called to the scene of a structure fire.
The Police Department was also on scene initially and reported the fire as a structure fire in an unoccupied/abandoned house.
Dowagiac Fire units established the house as well involved and, along with the Wayne Township Fire Department, worked on the exterior of the house until they could move inside to confirm the house was unoccupied, reports said.
The fire was declared under control at 12:14 a.m. Saturday morning, reports said.
Units stayed on scene for overhaul and investigation and cleared the scene at 1:21 a.m.
No injuries were reported.
This fire is considered suspicious and under investigation because the utilities had been disconnected from the structure for some time, the Dowagiac Fire Department reported.
If you have any information on the fire, please call the Dowagiac Police Department at 269-782-9743.
