Deputies recover methamphetamine, controlled substances during traffic stop

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – Two people were arrested on Thursday after deputies found methamphetamine and other substances during a traffic stop, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office announced.

At 11:50 p.m., deputies performed a traffic stop on a Chevy Impala on the U.S. 31 northbound ramp near Veterans Parkway.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were identified as Stephanie Williams and Matthew Sanders.

K9 Officer Bear performed a free air sniff of the vehicle, alerting to the smell of narcotics inside.

Deputies found suspected methamphetamine, controlled substances, paraphernalia, suspected marijuana, and scales inside the vehicle, reports said.

Sanders also had paraphernalia on him, according to police.

Sanders and Williams were charged with the following:

  • Possession of methamphetamine greater than 10 grams but less than 28 grams
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of paraphernalia
  • Possession of marijuana

Both were taken to the Marshall County Jail.
