Crystal methamphetamine, firearms found during search warrant in Berrien Springs

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. - Detectives found crystal methamphetamine and firearms while executing a search warrant in Berrien Springs on Friday, the Michigan State Police Southwest Enforcement Team announced.

On Friday, SWET detectives and officers with the Berrien Springs-Oronoko Township Police Department performed a search warrant on a home in the 9000 block of Kephart Lane.

Three men were detained at the home, including the homeowner, who was the main focus of detectives' investigation.

During the search, detectives found crystal methamphetamine, scales, and other evidence of trafficking, reports said.

Detectives also found seven firearms in the home and a pistol on the homeowner, who is a convicted felon, according to reports.

The other two men were released from the scene.

The homeowner, identified as 41-year-old Edward Ward of Berrien Springs, was taken to the Berrien County Jail on the following charges:

  • Felon in possession of firearms
  • Felon in possession of ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
  • Possession of methamphetamine 2nd offense
  • Maintaining a drug house 2nd offense
