KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office says CR 800 W may remain closed through the middle of next week. A tanker carrying 7700 gallons of ethanol alcohol overturned and caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Deputies were called to CR 800 W north of CR 400 N just before 6:30 p.m. after the semi caught fire.

The semi was traveling northbound on CR 800 W about a half mile north of CR 400 N when the semi dropped off the shoulder of the road. The driver overcorrected, causing the ethanol to slosh in the tank.

The trailer disconnected and both the cab and the trailer overturned several times.

The driver, from Bremen, told deputies it rolled approximately four times. He said he cut his seat belt and forced the door open while the truck was burning.

The following agencies responded to the crash and fire: Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office, Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Emergency Management, the American Red Cross, Indiana Department of Environmental Management, Kosciusko County Highway Department and Fire Departments from Atwood, Etna Green, Nappanee, Bourbon and Winona Lake.
