City of Niles offering Christmas tree pickup beginning January 10

NILES, Mich. – The City of Niles’ Street Division will be collecting and recycling Christmas trees in the city beginning on January 10, weather permitting.

The crew will only be making one trip through the city, beginning in the first ward and continuing through the second, third, and fourth.

Trees should be placed at the edge of the street no later than the evening of Sunday, January 9.

Those wanting their trees recycled are asked to do the following:

• Do not put trees in the street, only on the edge of the street
• Remove trees from plastic bags
• Remove all ornaments, lights, and stands from the trees

Residents who do not want to get rid of their trees now can participate in the brush chipping program that will resume in April.
