SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Venues Parks and Arts is taking over Leeper Park today in celebration of the National 'Kids to Parks Day’ with a day full of family fun activities and free food.
It’s a national day to celebrate outdoor play and encourage families to get active in green spaces.
The event will be kicking off at 1:00 p.m. and running until 4 p.m.
There will be a variety of kid activities such as field games, mobile rock wall climbing, live entertainment performances, art and more.
A number of food trucks will come out, making it a perfect day for a family picnic at the park.
There will also be a number of local organizations at the event to provide information on community resources.
And, courtesy of physician urgent care, they will be giving out free hotdogs to the first 400 guests.
“Kids to park day it’s a national day to celebrate outdoor play, so we want to encourage families to come out and have a great time we’re going to have a number of activities taking place so there will be a very fun kid zone with all kinds of field activities, arts and crafts, and opportunities for kids to play,” said Jonathan Jones, VPA Director of Recreational Activities.
The event is free to the public.
