Businesses along SR-19 anticipate president's arrival
ELKHART, Ind. -- With President Trump's arrival taking over the Michiana. Secret Service and the rest of the motorcade will take over the Toll Road and several key roads in Elkhart.
SR-19 is a major thoroughfare in the city. It's shutdown will impact many businesses that rest along the road, but they're okay with that.
"It's kind of exciting to have the President running down our road, and we're just anticipating it," says Joe Livings.
Livings owns a store that sits right next to the street.
"This is a main artery. We have two sub arteries coming in from the north. So, it'll be a little bit of a bottleneck," adds Livings.
He, like many others, are gearing up.
"Some of the girls rescheduled their appointments for later. I had to reschedule one gentleman who was coming from Mishawaka and he said he didn't want to have to deal with it," says Craig Miller.
Miller also owns a business along the stretch.
He says, it's a small price to pay.
"It's not really a big deal. President Obama came here two or three times and it was an honor," Miller explains. "President Trump is an honor too. A little inconvenience for the honor is well worth it."
And for people like them who have a front row seat, it's even better.
"We're going to put a couple of flags out there and we're going to sit there and wait for him to come through," says Livings. "Just to be able to be this close to the president is pretty neat."
