Bicyclist struck on CR 800, deputies searching for hit-and-run driver

LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. – The LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department is looking for the driver who struck a bicyclist and kept driving.

According to deputies, emergency crews responded to the scene in the area of County Road 800 South and 4570 West around 5 a.m. where a bicyclist had been hit by a vehicle.

The victim was identified as 24-year-old Jerry Hochstetler from Ligonier. He was airlifted to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of head, neck, and spinal injuries.

Deputies say the suspect vehicle in this case might have front end and under carriage damage.

A vehicle description has not been released.
