BERRIEN SPRINGS, Mich. -- After a year hiatus, the Berrien County Youth Fair is back.
After being closed in 2020 due to the pandemic, volunteers and fairgoers are excited to be celebrating the 75th fair this year. The initial 75th anniversary celebration was set for 2020.
To celebrate, the fair is opening a time capsule from the 50th anniversary. They will also create a new time capsule to be opened on the 100th anniversary.
The midway will be open this year, but it may look a bit different than in previous years. A new ride company will be at the fair. Many of the rides are coming straight from another event in Indiana, and are being set up through Monday and Tuesday. After inspections on Tuesday, the rides will be open and wristbands will be valid through the rest of the fair.
Other parts of the fair include grandstand events, animal shows, and of course, fair food.
While you are there, you may run into some of the fair royalty.
The fair runs until Saturday. You can find a list of all the fair week events here.
If you're visiting for the first time, look for gates 1, 2, and 3, which are used during fair week. You won't be able to enter through the Fair Office gate.
