Aloft Hotel prepared for the overflow of people during the NHLWinter Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind.--- It’s that time of year, the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic will take place on New Year’s Day with floods of people in attendance.

The Chicago Black Hawks and Boston Bruins will go head-to-head Tuesday, January 1 at the Notre Dame stadium. The game will air live and starts at 1 p.m. EST.

Local businesses are gearing up for what may be an overflow of fans. The Aloft Hotel has game time plans in place.

The hotel located in downtown South Bend, will be housing hundreds of people, including media. The front desk agent Alvin Avance said they’ve already reached capacity.

“Its brought people from the bars, because you have to think about it everyone knows someone,” said Avance. “So when they come here they’re bringing their friends, their family, their brothers and sisters. It is an absolutely great event.”

Avance said the hotel will provide transportation for hotel guests to and from the stadium.

“We will actually be providing a shuttle,” said Avance.

The front desk agent also mentioned that security will be increased on game day. The hotel parking garage will be available to non-hotel guests for a fee.
