2019 Quilt Gardens Tour including PumpkinVine Trail for first time

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind.—Planting is underway for the 2019 Quilt Gardens Tour.

Three new sites are being added to the tour this year and for the first time ever, part of the PumpkinVine Trail in Goshen will be included in the event.

The tour kicks off on May 30 and runs through September 15.

“Basically we have giant gardens planted in the shape of quilt patterns, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience only found here in Elkhart County, they feature 7,000 plants sometimes, ranging in 200 volunteers working hard on the quilt gardens so we have fun, patterns, colors, explosion, all representing nature and art and creativity in amazing locations,” said Sonya Nash, project manager of Quilt Gardens, on Tuesday.

Seventeen gardens with more than one million blooms, along with 21 murals, will be on display throughout Elkhart County.

The tour kicks off on May 30 and runs through September 15.

A new section of the PumpkinVine Trail, which will close the gap between CR-20 and CR-33 in Goshen and Middlebury, is set to be finished by the end of May.
