Wind chill advisories in effect for parts of Michiana

Wind chill advisories have been issued for the counties of Starke, Pulaski, Fulton, Marshall, and Kosciusko.

Temperatures were forecasted to be in the single digits for most of the day Tuesday and can be dangerous if you are exposed to them for too long.

According to the National Weather Service, “A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.”

The NWS notes frostbite can occur if skin is exposed for as little as 30 minutes.

The advisory is expected to expire around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
