United Way of Elkhart County donates $25,000 to Goshen for flood recovery

GOSHEN, Ind -- The United Way of Elkhart County presented a $25,000 donation to the city of Goshen for the Flood Restoration Grant Program.

The check was presented by United Way of Elkhart County President/CEO Bill Reith to Goshen Councilwoman Julia Gautsche and Mayor Jeremy Stutsman on Wednesday.

The total amount raised by the community is $52,485. The City of Goshen will match those funds bringing the fund to a total of $104,970.

The City Council will also match up to an additional $47,515. The City Council is matching all funds raised up to $100,000 total.

“I want to thank all individuals, groups and businesses who have donated, for their generosity and their concern for others,” Mayor Stutsman said. “And thank you United Way of Elkhart County for everything you do to build our communities.”

The city has provided grants to over a dozen residents so far.

The money has been used to repair furnaces and water heaters, purchase sump pumps and dehumidifiers and for the repair of concrete floors.
