Emergency Response Team responds to suicidal subject

LA PORTE, Ind. -- La Porte Police were called to a home in the 900 block of Indiana Avenue around 2 p.m. Wednesday for reports a person at the home was suicidal.
The person had called 911 and said he was having thoughts of suicide.
When police arrived, they made contact with the caller, but he refused to speak with police.
The La Porte County Sheriff's Office's Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and made contact with the caller.
After several hours of negotiations, the caller said he was coming out of his home. Then he took his own life while still inside the home.
Officers cleared the scene around 8 p.m.
The department has not released the name of the man involved.
