Snow starting to stick around Michiana

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Snow is starting to stick around Michiana as part of the season's first snowfall.

The ABC 57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Tracker has been keeping an eye on the roads, but so far, there have been no problems.

Crews in Indiana and Michigan worked to pretreat the roads before the snow hit. They are asking drivers to take it easy.

“Slow down, drive appropriately for conditions. You know, leave a few minutes early, make sure your car is well maintained, you got good tires, oils been changed, all that good stuff. But operate safely, eliminating any distractions. Don’t worry about the radio, get your heat going before you hit the road. Put your phone, put your laptops, tablets away,” says MDOT spokesman Nick Schirripa.
