SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Michiana is getting medieval this weekend at the 8th annual Michiana Renaissance Festival.
On Saturday and Sunday, Pinhook Park will go back in time, giving people a sneak peak at what life was life during the 1500s. Event organizers say each day is filled with fun and educational activities for people of all ages.
There are four different re-enactment areas, highlighting medieval times, the golden age of piracy, the time of the vikings, and fairytale storyland. Visitors can experience exclusive shows, exhibits, and vendors at each re-enactment site. There's also jousting twice daily.
The festival is from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. Tickets for adults ages 13 and up are $12, seniors are $10, and children aged six to 12 are $7. Children under five and military personnel, with ID, get in for free.
The festival is also hosting a food drive this year. People are asked to bring non-perishable food items to donate to the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. In exchange, visitors will receive $1 off their ticket price.
