Political group asks Indiana Democrats to vote in Republican...
President Donald J. Trump's visit to Elkhart comes on the heels of a contentious Indiana Senate Republican primary where former state Representative Mike Braun won the nation's most expensive race.
One of the president's goals is to urge Indiana voters to support Mike Braun in his run against incumbent Democrat Joe Donnelly.
Those attending the rally believe the president's endorsement of Braun could help.
“I think Donnelly had his time, he needs to go," Steven Coleman said.
“I think that whole blue wave is not going to happen. I think we’re going to do great," Justin Potter said.
Hoosier Republicans in line to catch a glimpse of President Trump say when it comes to Indiana’s US Senate race, this will be their year!
“People want to change dramatically the way things are done. Mike Braun represents the guy who can continue to change dramatically the way things are done," said Dan Holtz, the Elkhart County Republican Chair.
The president told Senator Donnelly back in September he was going to campaign against him in 2018. Holtz is expecting Trump to keep that promise.
“Our Republican voters and our Republican activists are pretty excited about working hard through the summer and working hard in the fall," Holtz said.
Braun is expected to make an appearance at the president's rally.
