Power outages and storms sweep through Michiana

Residents in Michiana and surrounding areas have reported power outages on Monday night.

Indiana Michigan Power and NIPSCO both reported power outages across parts of Michiana following the storms.

Heavy rain and lightning were reported from people in the area. 

The lightning said to to have caused many of the power outages.

During 20 minutes of the storm, there were and estimated 1,500 lightning strikes. 

Road flooding in Michiana has also been reported on parts of Ironwood and also on U.S. 23.

Water levels there said to be upward of 6- 8 inches deep in spots.
